Permits are only issued between 7:30 AM and 12:00 Noon.
Permits are only issued ON THE DAY that you wish to burn.
No permits are issued IN ADVANCE due to the potential for changing weather conditions.

Massachusetts allows residents to burn brush between January 15 and May 1 inclusive, depending on weather conditions. You must obtain permission from the town in which you plan to burn brush.

Some towns served by the New Braintree State Police Dispatch office offer burning permits through this site. If you are burning in these towns, you can visit this site between 7:30 AM and 12:00 Noon to obtain a permit on the day you want to burn brush. Permit availability on a given day will depend on weather conditions.

How to obtain a permit

to obtain a permit on-line if you are burning brush in one of the following towns:.

*If you are burning in East Brookfield, Hardwick, Holland, New Braintree, North Brookfield, or West Brookfield you must first register with the town and obtain a registration number for the season. Contact your local fire department for more information.

The remaining towns in Central Massachusetts do not use this system. Please contact your town directly for additional information.

You must have internet access and a valid email address to use this system. If problems with this website prevent you from obtaining a permit, you can also request a permit over the phone. To request a permit, call New Braintree State Police Dispatch at 508-867-1066.
